Lustrous, very light pink to purple crystals in two clusters in a matrix cleft. Initially labeled as rhodochrosite, the color suggests this is probably better labeled as manganoan calcite or maybe an iron-rich rhodochrosite. However, there is no vigorous reaction with dilute hydrochloric acid, and the dark, heavy matrix is typical for Potosí Mine rhodochrosites. Chemical analysis would be needed for accurate determination, so for the moment I'll label it as something in the calcite-rhodochrosite solution series. Also present are numerous clusters of a black, botryoidal jacobsite (?) and an 'undercarpet' of a light brown, acicular mineral forming roughly spherical clusters, perhaps goethite (?). Quite nice under magnification. Could be trimmed without loss of anything except matrix. No damage.
