20676: Calcite and Pyrite - Was $20 Now $10 Westfalen Mine, Ahlen, Münsterland, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany Miniature - 5.4 x 4.9 x 3.2 cm 66 grams Ex Angela Cannon Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order The specimen's display face is
covered with abundant, light grey scalenohedral calcite
crystals which reach 1.5 cm. These calcite are mostly
opaque at the root and become translucent moving towards
the termination. Pyrite microcrystals are scattered
about on the calcites. A nice miniature from a coal mine
not known for its mineral specimen production (Mindat lacks
mineral photos for this locality). A few minor
calcite cleaves along the edges but overall condition is
very good. Sits nicely for display on its naturally flat
base.
