30421: Fluorite, Galena, and Calcite - Was $24 Now $10 Diana Maria Mine, Rogerley Quarry, Stanhope, County Durham, England Miniature - 4.6 x 4.3 x 3.6 cm 110 grams Fluorescent (LW/SW) Specimen status: Reserved Send an email with specimen number to order Specimens from the Diana Maria Mine
are quite similar to those of the nearby Rogerley Mine,
with the most notable difference being the presence of
calcite or aragonite coatings on Diana Maria Mine
specimens. This example features numerous translucent to
transparent, light emerald green fluorite cubes having
white inclusions (these may be microscopic air bubbles).
The fluorites reach 1.1 cm, and glow purple under
shortwave UV, and a brilliant blue under longwave UV. Also
present we find slightly corroded and cleaved galena,
mostly hidden the partial coating of dirty white,
microcrystalline calcite. (This calcite can easily be
removed if you find it distracting.) A very typical
mineral species association specimen for the locality.
Sits nicely for display without additional support.
Ignoring the usual edge and back issues the overall
condition is excellent.
