32365: Mimetite and Calcite - Was $50 Now $25 Level 8, Minerales Shaft 5, Potosà Mine, Francisco Portillo, West Camp, Santa Eulalia Mining District, Aquiles Serdán Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico Small cabinet - 6.0 x 4.9 x 3.5 cm 146 grams Specimen status: Reserved What does Reserved mean? Send an email with specimen number to order The display of this specimen is
dominated by silky and glistening, light yellow-brown
mimetite. (The actual color is somewhat darker than my
lousy photos appear on my computer.) Immediately
underneath is a thicker layer of dull, grayish crystalline
mimetite which in turn sits on a limonite matrix. Also on
the display face are colorless, translucent to transparent
calcite rhombs; these reach 1.2 cm. In some spots the
calcites are water-clear and the mimetite underneath is
clearly visible. Minor chips to a few of the calcites and
the usual edge and back issues, but overall condition is
quite nice. Easily sits at a pleasant display angle
without needing a stand.
