34148: Foitite - $12 Erongo Mountains, Karibib Constituency, Erongo Region, Namibia Miniature - 2.9 x 2.9 x 2.0 cm 11 grams Specimen status: Reserved What does Reserved mean? Send an email with specimen number to order A cluster of lustrous, jet black
foitite, partially covered with a contrasting snowy
white crust (feldspar or feldspar decomposition
products?). Many times here on the Dragon Minerals web
site I have said that all black tourmalines are not
schorl, and that exact species assignment for tourmaline
by visual inspection alone is not feasible. In this
case, however, this specimen comes from a lot purchased
a few years ago which was analyzed. Sits for display
without needing a stand. All the main crystals in this
cluster are sharply terminated, and overall condition is
quite nice.
