A group of six Spanish calcite specimens. The first four are from Llugarín, Asturias, Spain and the last two are from Moscona Mine, Solís, Concejo de Corvera, Asturias, Spain. Each has a few minor bruises and cleaves, and the lot price reflects this. Individual specimen sizes are listed below each picture.

4349:
Galena
Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee
3.4 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm (1.3 x 1.0 x 0.8 inches)
Specimen status: Sold

A bright and complexly crystalline chunk of galena. I see no point of attachment, so this might be a floater or (more likely) a cleavage fragment. The depressed price of zinc has closed the mine and ended specimen production October 30, 2008. It is unclear when or even if Elmwood Mine specimens will become as plentiful as they once were.

4351:

5.4 x 2.8 x 1.8 cm (2.1 x 1.1 x 0.7 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A glassy, doubly terminated calcite crystal; opaque in the middle and grading to transparent at the tips. Both terminations have tiny cleaves and there is a small contacted area on the base, otherwise free of damage.

Wadh, Balochistan, Pakistan
6.6 x 6.4 x 4.2 cm (2.6 x 2.5 x 1.7 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

An aesthetic,  radiating cluster of fine, deep green epidote blades on a fibrous actinolite (byssolite) matrix. The epidotes reach 2.5 cm in length. A few areas of mostly minor breakage, mostly around the periphery, otherwise the specimen is in very good condition. A previous Mountain Minerals International (Dudley Blauwet) label with a price of $400 testifies to the quality of this specimen. Specimen collected in 2003.

5349:
