A bright, slightly elongated pyrite cube. No obvious points of attachment; this appears to be a floater. A few scattered but small dings are noted.

9353:

Harbourville, Bay of Fundy, Kings County, Nova Scotia, Canada
3.8 x 3.1 x 2.7 cm (1.5 x 1.2 x 1.1 inches)

San Carlos Mine, San Carlos, Mun. de Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico
4.5 x 4.2 x 2.6 cm (1.8  1.7 x 1.0 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A cluster of barrel-shaped orange-brown vanadinite crystals, accented with colorless calcite, on matrix. The vanadinites and translucent to opaque, reach 3 mm in length, and many are doubly terminated. A few incomplete vanadinites are not consequential on this sparkly miniature, at this price.

9358:
Vanadinite (variety Endlichite) - $12   Reduced to $10
Chihuahua, Mexico
6.5 x 4.7 x 2.7 cm (2.6 x 1.9 x 1.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

This specimen features a rich, lustrous carpet of narrow vanadinite crystals to 4 mm on matrix. The brown color reveals this to be the arsenic-rich vanadinite variety called endlichite. Some vanadinites are incomplete. Minor calcite. Displays as shown without a stand.

9408:
Fluorite - $22   Reduced to $19
1st Sovetskii Mine, Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
4.6 x 4.5 x 4.0 cm (1.8 x 1.8 x 1.6 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A light green, translucent fluorite cube with lightly frosted surfaces. Contacted on the base where removed from matrix. One small corner cleave is noted. A respectable palm-sized Russian fluorite that sits well for display.

9414:
Malachite, Pyromorphite, and Cerussite - $20   Reduced to $18
Brown's Prospect, Rum Jungle, Batchelor, Northern Territory, Australia
4.8 x 3.2 x 2.7 cm (1.9 x 1.3 x1.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

We must admit that is is not the most aesthetic specimen in this update, but the association is interesting. The yellow pyromorphites reach 1 mm, and contrast nicely with the green malachite. From the 1973 Museum Dig.

9435:
Sulfur - $12   Reduced to $10
Steamboat Springs District, Washoe County, Nevada
6.2 x 5.0 x 2.3 cm (2.4 x 2.0 x 0.9 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A white, massive gypsum matrix is covered with bright sulfur. Individual sulfur crystals have a bubbly, conjoined appearance, as if melted somewhat after deposition on the matrix. A typical specimen for the locality. No damage.

9448:
Calcite - $14   Reduced to $12
Charcas, Mun. de Charcas, San Luis Potosí, Mexico
7.4 x 3.8 x 1.7 cm (2.9 x 1.5 x 0.7 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A single, fully terminated, translucent calcite crystal. Cleaved/contacted along one corner, otherwise an undamaged floater crystal.

9473:
Quartz - $60   Reduced to $54
Iraí, Alto Uruguai region, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
9.9 x 7.3 x 3.1 cm (3.9 x 2.9 x 1.2 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

This cluster of colorless to light purple quartz crystals is almost flat, but has a enough curvature to give it a nice shape and texture. Individual crystals reach 1.3 cm. Minor edgewear and a few small termination chips, all confined to the periphery of the specimen; otherwise no damage. Several interesting display angles.

9524:
Quartz included with Fluorite - $20   Reduced to $18
Amborompotsy, Ambatofinandrahana Department, Fianarantsoa Province, Madagascar
5.0 x 1.7 x 1.3 cm (2.0 x 0.7 x 0.5 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A colorless, mostly transparent and terminated quartz crystal with fluorite inclusions. The fluorites are purple cubes, about 2 mm in size, but difficult to photograph due to their depth within the crystal and the slightly frosted crystal faces. From a limited find of a few years ago. The find was not large; over one hundred specimens were recovered, but certainly less than a few hundred. Some small chips on the quartz are noted, but these are unimportant in this case.

9543:
Colemanite - $50   Reduced to $32
Boron, Kern County, California
8.5 x 4.0 x 3.4 cm (3.3 x 1.6 x 1.3 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A cluster of transparent to opaque, glassy colemanite crystals. The largest distinct crystal is 3 cm across. This specimen is nearly 100% colemanite, and free of damage.

9556:
Axinite-(Fe) - $30   Reduced to $27
Dassu, Shigar Valley, Skardu District, Baltistan, Northern Areas, Pakistan
3.5 x 3.0 x 2.4 cm (1.4 x 1.2 x 0.9 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A cluster of opaque but sharp axinite blades. Luster ranges from dull to glassy. The largest individual crystal is 2.8 cm wide. Two or three small contact points, but no damage is seen.
