7010:
Fluorite
Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
6.0 x 5.8 x 4.2 cm (2.4 x 2.3 x 1.7 inches)
Specimen status: Sold

A large chunk of light pastel green fluorite. The specimen is notable not for its crystal structure -- it has five distinct faces of a cube with edge modifications -- but for its icy, glassy transparency. Sits for display without a stand as shown in the first picture.

7020:
Tourmaline - $50   Reduced to $40
Aletai Prefecture, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, China
19.0 x 5.1 x 2.6 cm (7.5 x 2.0 x 1.0 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A very large but nonterminated cluster of black tourmaline (probably schorl).

7070:
Fluorite, Ferberite, and Muscovite - $22   Reduced to $19
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
4.7 x 3.5 x 3.3 cm (1.9 x 1.4 x 1.3 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

Numerous, lustrous ferberite blades rest among muscovite opaque, tan muscovite balls. The largest ferberite group is 4.4 cm in length, sharply terminated, and accented with a water-clear 8 mm fluorite crystal. Sits nicely for display without a stand.

7086:
Calcite - $15   Reduced to $11
Sweetwater Mine, Viburnum Trend District, Reynolds County, Missouri
10.6 x 6.8 x 5.8 cm (4.2 x 2.7 x 2.3 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A single light golden brown calcite crystal. Glassy, and translucent to transparent, more so than the pictures suggest. Pristine termination. Displays as shown without a stand.

7104:
Magnetite and Epidote
Mibladen, Midelt, Khénifra Province, Morocco
3.7 x 1.8 x 1.7 cm (1.5 x 0.7 x 0.7 inches)
Specimen status: Sold

A deep-green, terminated (maybe doubly-terminated) epidote crystal sandwiched between sharp and lustrous but flattened magnetite crystals. The largest magnetite is 1.9 cm across. A good association specimen.

7138:
Beryl (variety Goshenite) - $10   Reduced to $8
Minas Gerais, Brazil
3.0 x 2.4 x 2.1 cm (1.2 x 0.9 x 0.8 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A goshenite (colorless beryl) crystal which has suffered natural etching, resulting in a spiky, silky, lustrous 'melting ice' appearance. A plate of tiny quartz crystals provides a natural base for display (first picture), and cascades down the back. No damage.

7140:
Beryl (variety Aquamarine) - $15   Reduced to $11
Minas Gerais, Brazil
3.6 x 3.0 x 3.0 cm (1.4 x 1.2 x 1.2 inches)
Specimen status: Reserved     Click here to order

A light blue aquamarine crystal which has suffered natural etching, resulting in a spiky, silky, lustrous 'melting ice' appearance. Two or three spikes appear to be missing their points, or this might just be an illusion created by the etching patterns.

7148:
Beryl (variety Aquamarine)
Minas Gerais, Brazil
4.4 x 2.5 x 2.2 cm (1.8 x 1.0 x 0.9 inches)
Specimen status: Sold

A light blue aquamarine crystal that has suffered natural etching, resulting in lustrous and glassy, very freeform shape, like a lump of melting ice, but with more character. One or two chips, or this might just be an illusion created by the etching patterns.

7161:
Fluorite - $28   Reduced to $22
Xianghuapu Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
5.3 x 4.0 x 3.5 cm (2.1 x 1.6 x 1.4 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

Light minty green, transparent to mostly translucent fluorite on matrix. Glassy and lustrous. The usual edge cleaves and contacts, and a little minor edgewear are noted. Displays well.

7162:
Fluorite - $14   Reduced to $10
Xianghuapu Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
6.8 x 5.8 x 4.2 cm (2.7 x 2.3 x 1.7 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A light minty green and highly transparent fluorite specimen. Several cubic crystal faces are present along with octahedral edge modifications, but other faces are contacted, and the price reflects this. A good chunk of glassy and lustrous fluorite for the price.

7230:
Goethite pseudomorph after Pyrite - $28   Reduced to $22
Pelican Point Quarry, Pelican Point, Utah County, Utah
3.7 x 3.5 x 3.3 cm (1.5 x 1.4 x 1.3 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A sharp and lustrous goethite pseudomorph after pyrite specimen, with an excellent nearly even brown color. It appears that any missing corners occurred before the pseudomorphing began, because these areas are the same tone and texture as the rest of the specimen. Cracks are natural consequences of the pseudomorph process, and do not threaten the integrity of the specimen. A very good example from this premier pseudomorph locality.

7231:
Goethite pseudomorph after Pyrite - $28   Reduced to $22
Pelican Point Quarry, Pelican Point, Utah County, Utah
3.1 x 2.9 x 2.8 cm (1.2 x 1.1 x 1.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A sharp and lustrous goethite pseudomorph after pyrite specimen, with an excellent nearly even brown color. It appears that any missing corners occurred before the pseudomorphing began, because these areas are the same tone and texture as the rest of the specimen.
