12054:
Sphalerite and Chalcopyrite - $40   Reduced to $36
Baxter Springs, Tri-State District, Cherokee County, Kansas
13.1 x 8.1 x 4.9 cm (5.2 x 3.2 x 1.9 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A large opaque, crystalline sphalerite chunk with a sparkly,  iridescent surface. The sparkle is provides by a plethora of small chalcopyrite crystals. Typical for the locality. No damage.

12056:
Galena - $20   Reduced to $18
Joplin Field, Tri-State District, Jasper County, Missouri
9.7 x 8.2 x 4.5 cm (3.8 x 3.2 x 1.8 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

Galena crystals rise from a quartz bed on a chert matrix. The galena crystals are a bit rough, and the price reflect this. Minor fluorite also present on this heavy (about one kilogram) specimen.

12067:
Quartz (variety Tiger's Eye) - $15   Reduced to $13
South Africa
21.8 x 5.4 x 0.4 cm (8.6 x 2.1 x 0.2 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A large slab of tiger's eye with golden brown color and good silky luster. Tiger's eye chatoyancy is caused by parallel intergrowth of chalcedony and amphibole layers. The slab has been sawn and given an initial polish; further polishing would really make this piece glow.

12090:
Sphalerite and Fluorite - $20   Reduced to $16
Cave in Rock, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District, Hardin County, Illinois
10.3 x 7.0 x 5.3 cm (4.1 x 2.8 x 2.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A roughly crystalline, mostly opaque sphalerite base hosts several light purple fluorite crystals. Much of the sphalerite surface has a resinous luster. The largest fluorite crystal (second picture) measures 1 cm along the edge. Between the sphalerite base and matrix is a layer of waxy yellow fluorite crystals.

12092:
Sphalerite and Chalcopyrite - $100   Reduced to $90
Baxter Springs, Tri-State District, Cherokee County, Kansas
10.2 x 8.6 x 5.8 cm (4.0 x 3.4 x 2.3 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A large sphalerite cluster, sprinkled with chalcopyrites, sits at the top of a cherty matrix. The sphalerite cluster measures 6.9 cm across, and has a pleasing resinous luster. The bright chalcopyrites are arranged in a roughly parallel manner, and reach about 4 mm. The matrix could be trimmed if desired, although it makes a nice pedestal when displayed with a stand. A small cleaved area along the edge of the sphalerite cluster does not detract; otherwise no damage. A fine example that displays well.

12096:
Hematite - $22   Reduced to $15
Cumbria, England
7.0 x 6.0 x 3.5 cm (2.8 x 2.4 x 1.4 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A lustrous, curved 'kidney ore' hematite from a fifty-year old collection. No damage. Sits as shown for display without a stand.

12098:
Fluorite - $20   Reduced to $14
Cave in Rock, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District, Hardin County, Illinois
9.5 x 6.5 x 5.5 cm (3.7 x 2.6 x 2.2 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A group of deep purple fluorite cubes on matrix, accented with a bit of calcite. The largest complete crystals edge is 3.2 cm. Some scattered damage and edgewear is noted.

12151:
Beryl (variety Aquamarine) and Muscovite - $200   Reduced to $180
Mt Xuebaoding, Pingwu County, Sichuan Province, China
13.5 x 11.0 x 3.8 cm (5.3 x 4.3 x 1.5 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A large (~725 grams), tabular aquamarine crystal from the famous Chinese locality. Delicate blue color, with notable translucency along the edges. One face if flat, while the other has a large etched cavity, as if the beryl hasn't brushed its teeth. Minor muscovite also present. A neat specimen that displays nicely. No damage.

12226:
Tourmaline - $45   Reduced to $40
Minas Gerais, Brazil
10.6 x 4.4 x 3.1 cm (4.2 x 1.7 x 1.2 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A good-sized and terminated tourmaline crystal. Weighs 236 grams. Lustrous and jet-black, with hints of dark blue in thinner places. The ragged appearance is partly natural and partly damage; hence the price.

12375:
Sylvite - $75   Reduced to $67
Eddy County, New Mexico
14.7 x 7.1 x 6.5 cm (5.8 x 2.8 x 2.6 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A large, translucent to opaque brick of intergrown sylvite crystals. The largest distinct crystal measures 2 cm across (last picture). Previous dealer label with a $250 price tag.

12382:
Fluorite and Calcite - $75   Reduced to $67

Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A cluster of large deep purple fluorite cubes accented with partial coating of tiny calcite crystals. The largest fluorite crystal measures 9.5 cm along the edge. Blue, yellow, and colorless zones can be seen with backlighting. Some edge wear and corner cleaves noted, and the back is broken where the specimen was removed from matrix. Sits for display at several angles. This specimen is notable for the size of the individual crystals.

12494:
Fluorite, Calcite, Chalcopyrite, and Sphalerite - $300   Reduced to $270
Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee
17.4 x 11.8 x 8.3 cm (6.9 x 4.6 x 3.3 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A rich covering of fluorite cubes on matrix. The fluorites  have yellow cores with purple edges, and reach 2.8 cm along the edge. Accented with a few small clusters of orange calcites, tiny, scattered chalcopyrites, and minor sphalerite (on the back side). A rich specimen that displays nicely. A few very small rubs and cleaves are noted with a 10x lens, bit otherwise free of damage.
