3.9 x 3.1 x 2.1 cm (1.5 x 1.2 x 0.8 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A cluster of mostly transparent and slightly frosted fluorite cubes, accented with a few small quartz crystals. The fluorites are mostly light blue with distinct purple cores. Displays well.

7601:
Ferberite - $30   Reduced to $27
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
5.0 x 3.4 x 0.9 cm (2.0 x 1.3 x 0.4 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A lustrous and well-terminated, tabular ferberite crystal with an interesting cleft in the side. The cleft is decorated with a rich crust of tiny muscovite crystals.

7602:
Fluorite, Muscovite, and Arsenopyrite - $16   Reduced to $14
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
6.0 x 3.7 x 2.2 cm (2.4 x 1.5 x 0.9 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

Clusters of translucent to transparent fluorite cubes to 1 cm on silky muscovite, all on matrix. The fluorite color changes with the light source: purple-blue under daylight fluorescent light (used for the pictures) and purer purple under halogen light. Minor arsenopyrites scattered within the matrix. Unimportant edgewear and small corner cleaves, otherwise no detracting damage.

7605:
Quartz, Fluorite, and Muscovite - $16   Reduced to $14
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
4.1 x 3.4 x 3.1 cm (1.6 x 1.3 x 1.2 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A group of colorless, mostly transparent quartz crystals hosts a 2.1 cm fluorite crystal cluster. The main quartz termination is completely pristine and very sharp. The fluorites are very transparent, with distinct darker color zones at the edges. Also present are two generations of muscovite: larger nearly colorless blades, and a later generation of tiny green balls. Insignificant contacts and chips, most on the back and base. Displays well.

7609:
Fluorite, Arsenopyrite, and Muscovite - $15   Reduced to $13
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
4.9 x 3.8 x 2.4 cm (1.9 x 1.5 x 1.0 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A cluster of glassy fluorite cubes to 1 cm on a carpet of light brown muscovite microcrystals. The fluorites are highly transparent; their purple cores and the matrix underneath are clearly visible. The display face is accented with a few bright arsenopyrite crystals that reach 4 mm. There are many more, large crystals partly covered by the muscovite; these might be easily revealed by flaking away some matrix. Minor edgewear to some of the fluorites is noted, as well as a bruised area at the edge of the matrix (lower left, first picture), which could probably be trimmed away without significant loss to the specimen.

7612:
Fluorite - $10   Reduced to $9
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
5.8 x 4.8 x 2.8 cm (2.3 x 1.9 x 1.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A ring of light blue-green, transparent fluorite cubes on muscovite and quartz matrix. The matrix is easily visible through the fluorites in most spots. The largest individual fluorite is 1.1 cm across. Minor edgewear noted.

7613:
Fluorite and Scheelite - $15   Reduced to $13
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
4.2 x 3.8 x 2.8 cm (1.7 x 1.5 x 1.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A cluster of light purple, slightly frosted but quite transparent fluorite crystals. The largest crystal measures 2 cm across the face. The crystal edges have a distinct deeper colored zone, as if they were highlighted with ink. Also present is an etched but still distinctly octahedral scheelite crystal, which is 4 mm across and strongly fluorescent under shortwave UV (second picture).

7620:
Quartz and Arsenopyrite - $8   Reduced to $7
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
6.2 x 5.0 x 3.1 cm (2.4 x 2.0 x 1.2 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A translucent to opaque but doubly terminated quartz crystal cluster, rendered brown by unidentified inclusions. Two dull, rough, but complete arsenopyrite crystals also present. Contacted on the base and one small termination chip, otherwise the specimen is in very good condition. Sits well for display without a stand.

7621:
Quartz, Fluorite and Pyrite - $10   Reduced to $9
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
5.8 x 3.5 x 2.8 cm (2.3 x 1.4 x 1.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A terminated, transparent to opaque quartz crystals is partly coated by small, colorless fluorites and accented with a dusting of tiny pyrite cubes. The quartz termination appears to be complete, but not a perfectly defined point. Despite the iron-rich and sulfur-rich nature of the Yaogangxian deposit, pyrite is only found on a few percent of the specimens.

7622:
Quartz and Ferberite - $18   Reduced to $16
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
7.4 x 3.8 x 2.8 cm (2.9 x 1.5 x 1.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A translucent to opaque, doubly-terminated quartz crystal hosts several ferberite blade groups. The largest ferberite group is 3.8 cm long, slicing through the center of the quartz, and having a sharp, multiple termination where it peaks out on the other side. Other than minor, incomplete ferberites, no real damage is present.

7623:
Ferberite, Fluorite, and Muscovite - $24   Reduced to $21
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
6.2 x 4.0 x 2.6 cm (2.4 x 1.6 x 1.0 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

This L-shaped specimen features translucent to transparent fluorite cubes and terminated ferberite blades. The fluorites are light blue-green under daylight fluorescent light (used for the photos), and nearly colorless under halogen light. They reach 2.1 cm along the edge, whereas the longest ferberite is 3.1 cm. Accented with a scattered crust of nearly colorless muscovite, and another green micaceous mineral (more muscovite, or maybe chamosite?). Scattered fluorite edgewear is noted.

7624:
Arsenopyrite - $20   Reduced to $18
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
5.5 x 5.1 x 2.9 cm (2.2 x 2.0 x 1.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

Bright and lustrous, this specimen is nearly all crystalline arsenopyrite, sporting numerous crystal faces and terminations. Minor muscovite and a few contacted areas, which are not significant at this price.
