8179:
Azurite - $20   Reduced to $18
Schmitt Dolomite Quarry, Altenmittlau, Freigericht, Germany
5.0 x 3.1 x 2.7 cm (2.0 x 1.2 x 1.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A cluster of opaque but sharp, deep blue azurite obelisk-shaped crystals in a shallow vug on matrix. Somewhat contacted on the edge of the cluster. With patience and the right tools (probably a saw) could be trimmed to a nice thumbnail. This locality had produced some of the finest German azurites, but was closed in 1999, and is now being reclaimed. A fine German azurite for the price.

8231:
Fluorite - $15   Reduced to $13
near Rich City, Atlas Mountains, Er Rachidia Province, Morocco
5.5 x 5.5 x 4.0 cm (2.2 x 2.2 x 1.6 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

An intergrown cluster of simple fluorite cubes, translucent to transparent. The longest complete crystal edge is 3.9 cm. The color depends upon the lighting: yellow green under daylight fluorescent lights (used for the pictures) versus golden yellow under halogen light. Cleaved and contacted on the bottom (which makes a good display base), and other scattered edgewear and small cleaves are noted (hence the price).

8240:
Fluorite - $18   Reduced to $16
near Rich City, Atlas Mountains, Er Rachidia Province, Morocco
4.4 x 4.0 x 3.8 cm (1.7 x 1.6 x 1.5 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A single, translucent to transparent fluorite crystal, with four partial faces. The color is dependent on the light source: aquamarine and yellow under daylight fluorescent light (used for the photos) versus purple and nearly colorless under halogen light. Most of the roughness on the display face is due to natural etching; the base in contacted and cleaved.

8338:
Fluorite, Arsenopyrite, and Calcite - $24   Reduced to $21
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
5.4 x 5.4 x 3.7 cm (2.1 x 2.1 x 1.5 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

Glassy and very transparent fluorite cubes, reaching 1.7 cm along the edge, are scattered about on a carpet of opaque, sugary calcite crystals. These fluorites are light blue under daylight fluorescent lighting (used for the photos), and nearly colorless under halogen light. A cluster of bright arsenopyrite crystals to 1 cm sits in the middle of the display face. Except for the usual edge cleaves and backside contacts, no damage.

8381:
Calcite - $40   Reduced to $32
Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico
14.0 x 12.2 x 7.1 cm (5.5 x 4.8 x 2.8 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

An arborescent growth of opaque to transparent calcite rhombohedra explode from matrix. The calcites are colorless with appealing brown edges. Some contact points along one edge where the specimen was removed from matrix, otherwise no damage.

8432:
Wulfenite and Mimetite - $10   Reduced to $9
Ojuela Mine, Mapimí, Durango, Mexico
7.0 x 6.1 x 4.3 cm (2.8 x 2.4 x 1.7 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

This fixer-upper specimen features translucent to opaque, tabular wulfenite crystals to 1.2 cm along the edge on a gossan matrix. The edge of the specimen features a patch of light green, opaque mimetite balls. Minor calcite also present. Some wear noted on the wulfenites, mostly along the edges of the specimen. Invest some time to pick away at the matrix, and you might have a pretty nice Ojuela wulfenite.

8657:
Cassiterite and Muscovite - $35   Reduced to $31
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
5.3 x 5.1 x 1.8 cm (2.1 x 2.0 x 0.7 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A well defined, complex cassiterite crystal rests on a bladed muscovite carpet, all on a flat matrix. What is lacks in transparency it makes up for in glassy luster and aesthetics. No damage.

8808:
Mimetite and Wulfenite - $45   Reduced to $36
Level 7 La Campana Vein, Ojuela Mine, Mapimí, Durango, Mexico
18.0 x 14.5 x 6.4 cm (7.1 x 5.7 x 2.5 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A large chunk of limonite matrix about half-covered with light green mimetite balls and a sprinkling of tabular wulfenite crystals. The wulfenites are tabular, butterscotch-yellow in color, tabular in shape, opaque to transparent, and up to 5 mm in size. A nice association specimen. The soft matrix would allow easy trimming if desired.

8924:
Arsenopyrite, Quartz, and Muscovite - $180   Reduced to $145
Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
15.5 x 13.5 x 7.4 cm (6.1 x 5.3 x 2.9 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

Large, bright arsenopyrites accented with transparent quartz, all on a bed of muscovite. The largest arsenopyrite is 4.8 cm, and the quartz crystals reach 4.2 cm. Above average for Yaogangxian arsenopyrite specimens! Except for the back of one quartz termination, no damage (ignoring the usual edge issues).

8965:
Calcite - $15   Reduced to $7
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
5.3 x 4.0 x 1.6 cm (2.1 x 1.6 x 0.6 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A plate of colorless, translucent to transparent calcite crystals on matrix. The calcites reach 6 mm across, and (except around the edges of the specimen) are free of damage.

9310:
Tourmaline and Quartz - $10   Reduced to $9
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5.3 x 3.3 x 2.9 cm (2.1 x 1.3 x 1.1 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Click here to order

A terminated quartz crystal hosts a nest of deep green to black tourmaline crystals. The quartz is translucent to transparent, and the termination has a few small chips. A few smaller quartz crystals form the edge of the nest. The tourmalines are mostly nonterminated, but the largest is 1.9 cm in length and terminated (third picture).
