The Brushy Creek Mine has long been noted for its production of fine calcite with marcasite specimens. Here we have a rather large example, composed of several parallel, grey and mostly opaque calcite scalenohedral crystals. Individual crystals reach 12.5 cm and half are double terminated. These calcites are accented on one specimen face with a sparkling carpet of rainbow hued, microcrystalline marcasite. Complete all around (all of the calcite terminations are complete); a fine example for its size. Displays quite nicely on its naturally flat base.
