30761: | Cavansite and Mordenite Wagholi Quarries, Pune District, Maharashtra, India Miniature - 4.2 x 2.8 x 2.8 cm (1. 7 x 1.1 x 1.1 inches) Weight - 57 grams with stand (0.13 grams) Specimen status: Sold This is the largest single cavansite
cluster I have ever handled! It consists of deep blue
cavansite blades, forming a rose-like cluster, on a
background matrix of contrasting fuzzy, white mordenite.
The blue is just stunning. It might be possible to
reveal even more cavansite by removing more mordenite
matrix, but I like the blue/white color balance as it
is. No damage. Displays quite nicely on its acrylic
stand, but could easily be removed if desired. I thinks
it's fair to call this a 'competition-quality'
miniature. It is my understanding that the six or so
quarries which produce cavansite are either flooded,
mined out, have moved beyond the cavansite zone, etc.,
and that we should expect little to no new production.
