RF304: Vanadinite and Barite
Mibladen Mining District, Midelt Province, DrĂ¢a-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Miniature - 4.1 x 4.0 x 3.8 cm (1.6 x 1.6 x 1.5 inches)
Weight - 68 grams with base (0.15 pounds)
ex Roy Foerster collection
Specimen status: Sold

A bladed barite matrix hosts a 360 degree coverage of lustrous, blood red vanadinite crystals. These glittering vanadinites are translucent to opaque, and reach 1 cm across. A black coating underneath the vanadinites (pyrolusite?) provides a very nice contrast. Negligible microchipping seen under the hand lens, otherwise this fine miniature is pristine. Displays nicely on its acrylic base, which can be removed if desired. A choice Moroccan vanadinite for the price range.
