This Classic Chinese fluorite specimen consists of translucent fluorite crystals standing above a massive quartz matrix from which the fluorite has been beautifully exposed by acidic etching. (The entombment is still visible on the specimen's back side.) These fluorites are light green with accenting purple lines where crystal faces meet. (Recall that fluorite color is sometimes sensitive to light source. This specimen was photographed under white LED light, but you may see a somewhat different color depending upon your mineral cabinet illumination.) The crystal surfaces are lightly frosted, caused either when the surrounding quartz was deposited, or when this same quartz was etched away. Displays nicely on the flat quartz base. One dinged area along the edge, and the price reflects this.
