RF380: Tourmaline with Muscovite and a Quartz Core
Urubu Mine, Itinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Miniature - 5.1 x 3.4 x 3.3 cm (2.0 x 1.3 x 1.3 inches)
Weight - 58 grams including stand (0.13 pounds)
ex Roy Foerster collection
Specimen status: Sold

This specimen consists of a sharply-terminated green tourmaline (elbaite) crystal, partially surrounded by muscovite clusters. The tourmaline has a deep green termination cap, and the surface is crazed due expansion by quartz replacement of the core. This nifty pseudomorph specimen is currently mounted on an acrylic base, which could easily be removed if desired. (The base partially hides the quartz core.) Complete and displayable all around. No damage. A fine and affordable example.
