Pingwu Beryl Mine, Mt Xuebaoding, Pingwu County, Mianyang, Sichuan, China
Miniature - 5.9 x 5.7 x 4.1 cm (2.3 x 2.2 x 1.6 inches)
Weight - 188 grams with stand (0.41 grams)
ex Roy Foerster collection
Specimen status: Sold

The Pingwu Beryl Mine is famous for world class cassiterite, aquamarine, and scheelite specimens. This fine example consists of a cluster of very lustrous, mostly translucent, butterscotch colored scheelite, with individual crystal edges reaching about 3.4 cm. As is typical for the species, the scheelites glow a brilliant blue-white under shortwave UV (second photo, but brighter than the photo suggests). Muscovite on these specimens is typically matted down but in this case they are erect. Displays quite nicely on its acrylic base, which could easily be removed if desired. This fine Chinese scheelite is free of damage and overall in quite nice condition.
