RF376: Fluorite
Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo District, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia
Small cabinet - 8.6 x 5.8 x 3.9 cm (3.4 x 2.3 x 1.5 inches)
Weight - 222 grams (0.49 pounds)
ex Roy Foerster collection
Specimen status: Sold

Here we have a cluster of translucent to transparent fluorite cubes, with a light minty green color caused by a colorless outer zone laid over a green inner zone. (recall that fluorite color depends on the light source. This sample was photographed under white LED illumination, but the color may be somewhat different in your mineral cabinet, depending upon your light source.) Individual fluorite crystals reach 3 cm along the crystal edge. Corners of the inner zone cubes have dark patches, appearing as 'eyes' in some of the individual crystals. Overall condition is, I think, quite good. Sits well for display on its naturally flat base. Other example of the wide variety of interesting fluorites produced by the Okorusu Mine.
