The crystallized face of an opaque, dark brown sphalerite matrix is festooned with translucent quartz points. Minor, inconsequential gypsum is also present. Quartz is uncommon from the locality (or at least was rarely saved). Of the 112 Mid-Continent Mine mineral specimen photos hosted at Mindat only three include quartz (and in these cases only as a very minor constituent). This specimen is very displayable and is in superb condition.
