| 10567: Quartz replacing Tourmaline - $60 Urubu Mine, Monte Belo, Itinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil Small cabinet - 9.1 x 2.4 x 1.9 cm 57 grams Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order This interesting specimen began as a
tourmaline crystal with a green skin but its core was
replaced (pseudomorphed) by quartz. Along one face the
quartz preserves the original tourmaline striations. Not
terminated, as is typical for this material. While such
pseudomorphs do occur elsewhere, the Urubu Mine has produced the best
examples. This sample is in fine condition.
