A gray to black mass of graphite, with submetallic luster in spots. Carries an old Shannon Minerals label, which states, "This mine dates back to the sixteenth century. This mine is responsible for the first pencil factory in Keswick, England. I think it is still in operation. Collector: R. Taylor". Yes, you can mark paper with this specimen. A must for any collection of historic English minerals, organic minerals, or ugly rocks.
