| 44581: Cerussite, Baryte and Unknown - $40 Les Dalles Mine, Mibladen, Aït Oufella Caïdat, Midelt Cercle, Midelt Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco Small cabinet - 6.7 x 4.7 x 3.2 cm 139 grams Fluorescent (LW) Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A complex, glassy cerussite crystal
with minor, pinkish, lenticular baryte. The cerussite
glows a brilliant lemon yellow color under longwave UV
(blacklight). A white to colorless, opaque to transparent
unknown is also present. This unknown is insoluble in
water, is not fluorescent and does not effervesce with
dilute HCl (so it is not aragonite as sometimes stated,
nor is it cerussite) - maybe a second baryte generation?
Or something more exotic? Regardless, the cerussite is
above average size for the locality and is in superb
condition.
