28426: Paradamite
Ojuela Mine, Mapimí, Mun. de Mapimí, Durango, Mexico
Miniature - 5.0 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm (2.0 x 1.8 x 1.4 inches)
54 grams with stand (0.12 pounds)
Specimen status: Sold

Looking through the inventory of wholesale dealers in Mexican minerals means seeing hundreds or thousands of Ojuela Mine adamites, conichalcites, etc., but every now and then a rarity shows up. This fine paradamite crystal group is one example. A 1.3 cm, glassy, light golden yellow paradamite group sits beautifully in a gossan matrix cleft. The very tips of the terminations display greenish shortwave UV fluorescence. No damage. Aesthetic and photogenic. Could be reduced to a thumbnail without loss, but I like the matrix cleft, like a hand holding the paradamite.
