| 01845: Gypsum variety Selenite and
Gyrolite - $42 Malad Quarry, Malad, Mumbai Suburban District, Salsette Island, Konkan Division, Maharashtra, India Small cabinet - 6.0 x 3.6 x 1.3 cm 20 grams Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A **superb**, water-clear and sharply
formed, triangular gypsum crystal from an unusual locality
for the species. Despite Mahrashtra's immense mineral
specimen wealth, gypsum is quite rare there; Mindat lists just two confirmed
localities. In addition to being a top-notch gypsum
crystal, the specimen also boasts a rare association: the
crystals along the base are gyrolite. This little jewel is
in perfect condition. Note: Although this specimen looks
like calcite, it fails to produce a vigorous reaction with
dilute hydrochloric acid.
