| 13580: Gypsum, Dolomite and Quartz - $40 Boldut Mine, Cavnic, MaramureČ™ County, Romania Small cabinet - 8.3 x 8.0 x 2.8 cm 92 grams Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order Sprays of opaque gypsum crystals,
somewhat resembling a bow tie or a sheaf of wheat, and
reaching 4.9 cm across, dominate the specimen. This gypsum
style is uncommon outside of Cavnic. The round structure is a
mound of brown dolomite crystals which have been deposited
over a smaller, hollow mound of quartz (see backside
photo). Very nice condition. Note: The white material is
not calcite; it does not effervesce with dilute
hydrochloric acid.
