26 grams

A mostly translucent gypsum (variety selenite) cleavage specimen with dark matrix inclusions. Some spots glow a brilliant orange under shortwave UV, revealing the presence of calcite not otherwise seen with the naked eye. The provenance renders this specimen somewhat more interesting than the typical Franklin gypsum: it carries an old Neal Yedlin label, dating the specimen to sometime before 1978 (and probably much early...the 1940's...when Yedlin switched exclusively to micromounts).
