A flat, mostly water-clear gypsum crystal (variety selenite) with bright yellow sulfur on one face and a thin crust of opaque calcite on the rear. The gypsum has natural faces in some areas whereas other areas are contacted or cleaved. The calcite backing displays bright white fluorescence under longwave UV (blacklight).
