A 2 cm cluster of colorless, transparent gypsum crystals (variety selenite) on a bed of dark brown calcite points. The calcite and the chert matrix are quite typical for the locality but the gypsum is not. Mindat does not list gypsum for this locality but the it makes sense as a marcasite decomposition product. Underneath its surface, the calcite shows a band of yellow fluorescence under both longwave UV (blacklight) and shortwave UV. This specimen is in fine condition.
