| 17829: Titanite, Gypsum variety Selenite,
Microcline and Chlorite - $125 Tormiq Valley, Haramosh Mountains, Roundu District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan Cabinet - 11.4 x 7.8 x 3.0 cm 170 grams Ex Herb Obodda Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order Dominating this highly unusual mineral
association specimen is a triangular, tabular, terminated,
glassy and very water-clear gypsum gypsum crystal (variety
selenite). At the base of the gypsum is a cluster of white
microcline crystals, these partially coated in small
chlorite roses. Several light green titanite crystals to 7
mm are also present. Ex Herb Obodda collection; his tag
(which accompanies the specimen) bears a $1500 price.
Gypsum is unusual at the locality; of the 424 Tormiq Valley mineral specimen
photos hosted at Mindat, none include gypsum. The
back of the gypsum is cleaved but this is inconsequential
considering the unique mineral species assemblage on this
specimen. The remainder of the specimen is in superb
condition.
