RO-110: Wulfenite
Defiance Mine, Gleeson, Turquoise District, Cochise County, Arizona
Small cabinet - 9.4 x 8.8 x 6.3 cm (3.7 x 3.5 x 2.5 inches)
206 grams (0.45 pounds)

Arizona has many fine wulfenite localities, and the Defiance Mine is one of the best. This specimen is a great example, featuring hundreds of yellowish wulfenite plates on a brecciated matrix. These thin crystals are mostly transparent, sharply formed, and reach 1.1 cm in size. Despite the fragility of thin wulfenites, the specimen has surprisingly little damage. This Arizona classic displays quite nicely. Previous labels from the Bideaux Collection and Kristalle attest to the quality.
