Cave-in-Rock, Cave-in-Rock Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois
Cabinet - 12.1 x 7.4 x 5.9 cm (4.8 x 2.9 x 2.3 inches)
492 grams (1.08 pounds)
Specimen status: Sold

Here we have a group of deep blue, lightly frosted, translucent fluorite cubes on matrix. The largest individual crystal measures 2.5 cm in size. Most crystals show distinct color zones, with purple cores and blue outer zones. (Recall that the color of fluorite can be sensitive to the light source. The photos you see here were taken under white LED illumination, but the color may be somewhat different in your mineral cabinet, especially if you use halogen or fluorescent lights.) Minor brown sphalerite is scattered about on the matrix. Outside of a few small cleaves and minor edgewear as well as the usual back and edge issues the specimen is in fine condition. Displays horizontally or vertically without needing additional support.
