| 44596: Halite (two specimens) - $12 Searles Lake, San Bernardino County, California Small cabinets - 7.1 cm (larger specimen) 411 grams total weight Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order Two colorless, highly translucent and
roughly cubic halite samples from the locality better
known for plates of much smaller pink halite, frequently
in hopper crystals. The smaller sample has a second halite
generation (or maybe thenardite? unverified) on one face;
this secondary growth glows bluish-white under both
longwave UV (blacklight) and shortwave UV. These samples
are well above the average crystal size available on the
mineral market for the locality.
