China is not well-known as a producer of collectable apophyllite specimens. Despite hosting over 3300 Chinese mineral localities, Mindat has just 85 photos in which an apophyllite group species is the major or the accessory mineral present from these localities. This sample consists of colorless, highly transparent and tabular fluorapophyllite crystals, with prominently beveled edges. The dominant individual sits in the middles of the cluster, and measures 2.7 cm. Also present are numerous deep brown hubeite crystal groups, (two are dominant), one of which is partially included within the fluorapophyllite. Hubeite is a hydrated calcium manganese iron silicate - Ca2Mn2+Fe3+Si4O12(OH)ยท2H2O, for which the Fengjiashan Mine is the type locality. A few minor rubs are noted but overall condition is quite good. Sits perfectly for display on its naturally flat base.
