Patches of salmon colored, mostly translucent rhodochrosite crystals are scattered through the display face of the matrix. The rhodochrosite crystal form is somewhere between discoid and scalenohedral. The color is a bit unusual for the locality; Sunnyside Mine group rhodochrosite is more commonly a bright bubble gum pink or a deeper cherry red. Accented with mostly opaque, microcrystalline quartz (almost chalcedony), along with some pyrite crystals which reach a few mm in size. A few cleavages here and there but no major damage.
