Chalcopyrite, Stilbite, and Calcite

94 grams (0.21 pounds)
Specimen status: Sold

A thin basalt matrix hosts a liberal carpet of small, gray to colorless, translucent and frequently double-terminated calcite crystals reaching a few mm in size. Scattered among these calcites we find another generation of larger, off white calcites, some brown stilbites and a myriad of somewhat brassy chalcopyrite microcrystals. Chalcopyrite is fairly rare from this locality. A very nice find for the New Jersey collector, and free of damage (other than the usual edge issues).
