A dark brown red, translucent to opaque and glassy spessartine garnet crystal. Despite its rough appearance in the photos, this specimen is complete all around, not broken or etched. (Irregular growth in garnets is often attributed to etching but this is generally untrue.) Stepped growth lines add interest. Large for the species/locality.
