| 43088: Tourmaline, Calcite and Microcline
- $40 Himalaya Mine, Gem Hill, Mesa Grande Mining District, San Diego County, California Small cabinet - 8.5 x 6.1 x 5.4 cm 303 grams Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order This interesting pegmatite mineral
association specimen consists of abundant pink and green
tourmaline crystals and fragments, partially coated with
and cemented together by calcite, all on a crystalline
microcline matrix. The specimen probably formed at the
base of a pocket which had ruptured (hence the tourmaline
fragments) with subsequent inflow of calcium-rich fluids.
Certainly not the prettiest Himalaya Mine tourmaline specimen
but mineralogically interesting regardless.
