Arsenopyrite, Ilvaite, and Hedenbergite - $26
Huanggang Fe-Sn deposit, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhad League, Inner Mongolia, China
Miniature - 4.9 x 3.5 x 3.4 cm (1.9 x 1.4 x 1.3 inches)
84 grams (0.19 grams)

This specimen consists mostly of lustrous, gunmetal gray arsenopyrite crystals, ranging from large to tiny. The tiny arsenopyrites add sparkle. It's difficult to select a 'single crystal' to measure size because of the plethora of arsenopyrite twinning. Buried in the arsenopyrite crevices are a few jet black ilvaite crystals with a felt-like texture. These ilvaites are contacted by arsenopyrites on each end. Also present are a few incomplete (broken), greenish hedenbergites; these were probably how the specimen was attached to matrix. A classic Huanggang association specimen with many display angles and no damage to the arsenopyrites.
