Epidote - $18 Prince of Wales Island, Ketchikan Mining District, Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area, Alaska Small cabinet - 6.1 x 2.5 x 2.1 cm (2.4 x 1.0 x 0.8 inches) 33 grams (0.07 pounds) Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A deep green, opaque, somewhat
lustrous, and oddly-formed Alaskan epidote. The odd form
is probably due to growth interference (minor muscovite
is present); the specimen does not appear to be etched.
Most probably from classic Green Monster Mountain locality.
Minor, scattered microchipping is seen under
magnification, otherwise the specimen is complete all
around (a floater) and undamaged.
