This specimen began as an anhydrite blade, over which grew a dense covering of opaque to transparent quartz points. A second growth cycle caused deposition of translucent, tan stilbite crystals as well as a few pearly white, opaque heulandites. At some point - before or after the zeolite growth phase - the anhydrite was dissolved away, leaving a hollow cast (epimorph) in the shape of the now-absent anhydrite. The quartz crystals reach 1.3 cm, and the zeolites about 1 cm. This classic locality is closed and will soon be extinct as it is being backfilled for a future housing development. The specimen sits nicely for vertical display without needing a stand. Overall condition is very good.
