'Faden' is a German word meaning 'string'; in quartz it refers to a milky, bubbly line formed during crystal growth while slowly being pulled apart as opposite edges retreat. This particular faden quartz appears to have two, roughly perpendicular faden lines - one strong and the other faint - quite uncommon. The highly transparent and nicely glassy crystal is also flat and tabular; a style sometimes called a 'tabby'. A few chips and contact points are noted.
