A shallow cavity in a typical Deccan Traps basalt matrix is lined with a carpet of small, colorless, and sparkling heulandite crystals. Set near the center is a 1.1 cm cluster of beautifully deep blue cavansite blade sprays. The color combination and sparkle is very nice. (The actual colors are better represented in the second photo.) The specimen sits perfectly as shown for display without needing a stand. No damage.

The Wagholi quarries - the world's only significant source of cavansite - have all closed (or about to do so), so cavansite production has all but ceased. In the absence of new finds, the price of cavansite will continue to rise; specimens like this one - free of damage and simultaneously affordably priced - will become harder to find.
