| 44433: Quartz, Goethite replacing
Siderite/Dolomite and Hematite - $18 Morocco Small cabinet - 7.2 x 4.2 x 3.4 cm 112 grams Illustrated: Mineral Specimen Cleaning and Development for the Amateur, page 275 Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A plate of quartz points, in a few
places rendered dark brown red by inclusions of hematite,
with a generous coating of gray brown siderite (or less
likely, dolomite) crystals to a few mm which have been
replaced by goethite. (Not siderite because these
replacements survived treatment with hot oxalic acid.)
Minor, gray hematite is also seen on the surface of the
quartz. Sits nicely for display without needing a stand.
Nice condition. Illustrated on page 275 of my new book
Mineral Specimen Cleaning and Development for the Amateur.
