At first glance, this is colorless, translucent and naturally etched topaz which retains enough of its original crystal shape to confirm it is topaz. That the specific gravity is unexpectedly high is a clue as well. The translucency is seen when the specimen is lit from behind (middle photo, top row). As an etched specimen, it's not the prettiest thing. However, when illuminated with shortwave, a bright greenish-white internal glow is noted at one of the terminations (right image, bottom row). Fluorescence in topaz is somewhat uncommon.
