00868: Gypsum variety Selenite - $24 Willow Creek, Nanton, Alberta, Canada Miniature - 4.8 x 3.0 x 1.2 cm 24 grams Fluorescent (LW/SW) Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A tabular gypsum crystal, whose
colorless, water clarity rightfully deserves the
'selenite' varietal name. An off form for the locality, as
most Willow Creek gypsum crystals are simple rhombohedra.
Shows an X-pattern fluorescence under both longwave and
shortwave UV. Excellent condition, especially considering
that gypsum is rather soft (Mohs hardness 2) and easily
cleaved.
