A complex tunellite crystal group, with a somewhat glassy to pearly luster. As is typical with this material, there are two spots which are either flat terminations or clean cleaves (hard to differentiate). Tunellite is an uncommon strontium borate - SrB6O9(OH)2ยท3H2O, for which the Rio Tinto Borax Mine is the type locality. Mindat lists just twelve global localities for this species. This fine example is in excellent condition.
