13726: Epidote - $125
Ras Koh Mountains, Kharan District, Balochistan, Pakistan
Small cabinet - 8.7 x 7.4 x 6.8 cm (3.4 x 2.9 x 2.7 inches)
Specimen status: Available     Send email to order

A stout and well-crystallized epidote from the fantastic find a few years ago. This example is among the largest I have seen. Deep green, lustrous, doubly terminated, and no obvious point of contact - a floater. The darker epidotes from this locality tend to be magnetic due to magnetite inclusions. (This one is not magnetic.) When these first became available the locality was given as Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan, perhaps to hide the the true locality and reduce unauthorized collecting. Many display possibilities that don't need a stand. A few small scars where sidecar crystals once stood, and a few small broken sidecars, but no significant or otherwise detracting damage.
