Rhodochrosite and Natrolite - $8 Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire, La Vallée-du-Richelieu RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada Thumbnail - 3.0 x 2.0 x 0.8 cm 4 grams Specimen status: Reserved Send an email with specimen number to order This specimen is mostly
rhodochrosite, with lustrous, red-brown crystals forming
a flat, two-sided plate. Individual crystals reach about
8 mm. A few white natrolite needles are also present;
the largest of these is 1.2 cm. The dark color suggests
(to me) that the material might have chemistry somewhere
between pure rhodochrosite (MnCO3) and pure
siderite (FeCO3). Classic Poudrette Quarry material. No
damage.
