From the only locality to produce naturally-etched pyrite in any quantity and quality comes this large and sharp example. Bright and brassy, with a very weird skeletal texture. A few small areas are incomplete, but these are just lost in the overall presentation. This is just about the largest specimen of this material that I have ever handled. Unclear if these are formed by etching of pure pyrite, or etching of some admixed species -- perhaps marcasite -- leaving the pyrite behind.
