Weight - 208 grams (0.46 pounds)
W. M. Foote label
Specimen status: Sold

A flat matrix plate host a complete coverage of colorless, translucent to opaque calcite crystals. The largest of these calcites is 2.4 cm in size. A few minor, scattered bruises and cleaves noted. Under both longwave and shortwave UV the specimen exhibits a light pink fluorescence. Also notable is the W. M. Foote label (last photo), dating the piece to the 1895-1916 period. Note: this is **not** an Albert Edward Foote label! Numerous dealers and collectors attribute any specimen bearing 'Foote' on the label to A. E. Foote, who sold minerals in Philadelphia in the 1876-1895 period. However (I strong believe) that when A. E. passed in 1895 and his son Warren Mathews Foote inherited the business, 'A. E.' was no longer used on the labels.
