25092: Szenicsite and Powellite - $80
Jardinera No. 1 Mine, Inca de Oro, ChaƱaral Province, Atacama Region, Chile   Type locality for szenicsite
Small cabinet - 6.9 x 4.8 x 3.3 cm (2.7 x 1.9 x 1.3 inches)
Specimen status: Sold

This specimen features deep green, shimmering crystals of szenicsite reaching about 1 cm in length. Szenicsite is a rare basic copper molybdate, Cu3(MoO4)(OH)4, for which the Jardinera No. 1 Mine is the type and only locality. The one-time find in January 1993 was small, a pocket perhaps one cubic meter in size. No additional specimens have been found. Massive to crystalline powellite is also present, identified by its distinct yellowish shortwave UV fluorescence.
